"Picnic"

Well, today was probably the craziest day of most of our lives.

The day started with us helping move one of the workers here from one house to another in about 3 hours.  It was a lot of work to start the day with at 7:30.

From there we went on a "picnic".

A picnic here consists of renting two mini-buses in which we all piled into and drove an hour to a river.

The bus ride was full of extremely loud Kurdish music, high speed, and lots of dancing.  It was crazy to say the  least.

Our two buses would routinely get up next to each other about 2 feet apart so we could harass each other through some sort of dance competition.  Matt takes the prize for greatest dancer.

Al's quote of the day after dancing with a bunch of Kurdish guys: "I don't even dance with my wife!"

There was also a pellet gun...and why not!?

Lots of charcoal grilled chicken and some grape-leaf wrapped rice/meat.  They were both wonderful.

The place where we had the picnic was by a river next to a road.  There were literally thousands of people that park there and picnic all day.

The space between the unclimbable hill, the road, the sitting area, and the river was all of about 40 ft...not a lot of room for volley ball, two lanes of traffic, a horse, a gun, dancing, eating, and sleeping.  And somewhere there was a bathroom.

Just like the picnics of old:
