Today was the first real hard day here in Delta Mexico. Up at 6am and off to Rick & Tammy's home for a half hour of prayer time with the team, their family and all of the staff (about 15 in total). After breakfast we went to a small local church that recently had had a small two room building erected for Sunday school for the kiddies. We sanded and painted both and then took off for a site in a small town about 45 minutes away where we worked on completing a project that involved sanding and painting a newly built home for the local pastor and his family. It was built on top of their in laws home and included 3 bedrooms a bathroom (in door plumbing) and a living room area. They felt they could make do with a communal kitchen but it is likely that one could be added later by using part of the new deck which was quite sizable. We worked with no real breaks, sanding and painting while the men completed the deck, roofing and trim work.
Our lunch break was sandwiches and pringles! Not too hot until we started painting. Then we needed lots of water and gatoraid to keep us hydrated. When 4:30 rolled around we all were pretty dead tired.
Once we got back to the Romanos home for dinner the youth group from Reading California had arrived - all 70 plus of them. What a big chore this must be for Tammy and her helpers. Feeding all of us and making sure everything is in order! What love they display as servants! Also extremely impressed with their children. All were up with us for the early prayer session and they had chores that they gladly fulfilled - with no complaining or moaning! Can you imagine a 16 year old up and working by 7 am without any negotiating!
Tonight we got cleaned up and were ready to hit the bed when we got a knock on the door from Trish and Suzanne to join them for a trip to the local ice cream stand Of course I got the coconut cone - only 9 pesos! Such a bargain.
Prayer request for tonight and tomorrow is for patience and tenderness and also for understanding for those who feel uncomfortable with the situations that we are confronted with daily!
We will be joined by the kids tomorrow so that is going to be very interesting. Will need Gods grace to help our team function together as one unit.
Is the team from Redding from Risen King Community Church?
ReplyDeleteTell Tasha that True Vine misses her and is praying for her!
