WV Update #6

From Allea Houser...

The Time I Saw God at Work

This whole missions trip experience was wonderful. However, there was one day that really touched my heart. That, of course, was the last day of work. I realized how much I would miss helping other people! The reason this day touched my heart was because I really saw God at work. At VBS, Vacation Bible School, the children were singing songs and praising the Lord happily and with joy. When we heard our day's lesson, the kids were actually listening and interacting and trying to understand the concept of our Lord Jesus. It seemed they had an urge to learn about Him and what He did for us! This really made me smile.

At our construction site, we were working on someone's house. The house was in disrepair and by God's will and call we were there to help them. It felt very good to help others. Even though the kids cannot do all of the things that the adults can, they can do equal amount of work by doing different things. For example... the kids had a huge kickball game put together, and we were all laughing and having fun. It wasn't putting up siding or painting, but it was building relationships with their kids, and that is what I think this was all about. Building relationships with people that you don't know, and getting to know them. I think that is the coolest thing. Getting to learn about the people that you don't know and figuring out all about them and the kinds of things they like.

God really spoke to me and told me to come on this trip for a reason. This reason was to do His will, build relationships, and help others, but I think the main reason was because God knew that I needed to grow closer to Him.
