Long Beach Beginnings

from Ryan O'Rourke

Getting here:  Our travels started with a rainy day at  the FAC parking lot.  Apparently everyone was going to the same place because we fought traffic all the way through New Jersey and New York to get to our delayed flight.  As we flew through the night and in and out of time zones, we wound up arriving for a bright new day in Long Beach.  It may sound like a tough trip, but in reality God had plans for fellowship to begin.  We are an open and fun group of guys sharing, laughing, and picking on each other.  We arrived in Long Beach ready for more.  We met with our hosts, who are pro's at cooking, entertaining, and touring.  We got to see the Family Place (their intended preschool/cafe/fitness center) opening in January.  We now had our list of "to do" starting the next day.

Local Convenience Store
Even the local convenience stores are a treat to visit.Sept. 25th has been an "amazing" day of accomplishments.   God has given us deeper relationships and a new understanding for the people of this country.  We kicked some butt on that "to do" list by completing one set of bunk beds, sanded and scraped old kitchen cabinet doors , rebuilt cabinetry, attached an internet cafe bar, caulked and painted.  We are on a fast track to get this place into shape and looking forward to tomorrow's new challenges and blessings.  We are thinking about our families, friends and supporters and hoping you will enjoy this blog.  Thanks for taking the time to read.
