Today was amazing.
In short, because we're debriefing and walking out the door soon, we saw amazing things.
First we went to the Saddam museum. It was a tour of a prison that he used to torture men and rape women. It was riddled with bullet holes from where the people from this region took it in 1991. It's tragic really and words cannot describe the feelings you have when you look at the pictures of men, women, and children who were tortured and murdered.
After that we went to a Kurdish restaurant for a traditional lunch with the team. That was a blast. (Although I think we're all looking forward to a good old American burger.)
Then we went to the bazaar. Lots of shops selling everything from raw meat to dyed chickens to traditional Kurdish clothing to antiques from Saddam days. It was crazy.
Tonight we attended the international church that meets in a hotel. There was a pastoral candidate there who also led worship. It was a moving experience with about 70 people in attendance, many of which were students we befriended throughout the week. We got to share the good news with them as well as even hand out some Bibles. Praise God!
Now, we're headed out the door to go to the airport. From here we get on a plane to Istanbul.
From there, only the Lord knows. Please pray for our team.
Pray for peace and love to rule our conversation. Pray for wisdom in our decisions on how to get home. And pray for our families back home who miss us.
See you on the other side.
