West Virginia Update Day #1

From Greg Ginion:

Greetings from West Virginia!

The entire team arrived safely. We are staying at a college campus along with three other church groups. There are a total of 94 people who will be serving this week (42 from FAC). We checked in and spent some time getting to know each other. Meals are served at the local middle school cafeteria.

I can tell I am a really good leader because on the drive back from dinner, I made a wrong turn and nine cars of FAC families followed right behind me!

The team will work this week in groups; some serving on construction projects and others serving at a VBS at a local church. We don’t know how many children will be participating, so it’s a bit challenging with preparing. But we are praying for a great turnout! World Vision runs a tight ship. They also really encourage us to build relationships with the people we will be serving. Emphasis is not just on getting projects done for people, but coming alongside them and empowering them to improve their own lives. Everyone is excited about what God is going to do this week.

We will be focusing on the book of Nehemiah and how he basically led a family missions trip to rebuild the walls of Jerusalem. We anticipate God to do big things with our small offerings.

Some specific things to pray about are: a big turnout of children for VBS; everyone to be safe on the construction sites; and that we will make a bigger impact in the lives of the people we are serving than merely just getting work accomplished. Thank you for supporting us with your prayers!
